Hobson, Bozic Lead Falcons to Comeback Victory Over Ohio

Hobson, Bozic Each Landed 22 Kills to Pace Bowling Green to Victory
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Senior Avery Hobson and sophomore Anastasija Bozic each tallied 22 kills to lead Bowling Green to a 3-2 (25-13, 25-27, 25-27, 25-23, 15-11) win over Ohio in Mid-American Conference volleyball action on Friday evening inside the Stroh Center.
Amanda Otten dished out a season-high 51 assists to fuel the Falcons' offense that finished with a .257 team attack percentage. Junior Sydnie Hernandez led all players with 22 digs while redshirt junior Helen Wilford got up for a match-best six blocks.
For Ohio, Bailey Blair ended with a team-high 15 kills and teammate Gentry Brown added 12. Rowan Kelly recorded 48 assists while Kendall Hickey notched 20 digs throughout the match. The Bobcats were held to a .194 hitting efficiency, marking the 12th time this season that the Falcons have held their opposition to hit under .200.
Bowling Green opened the match by claiming six of the initial seven points and later used a 7-2 run to increase the cushion as the Falcons cruised to a 25-13 set victory.
After Ohio claimed the second and third sets, BGSU fell behind 8-5 early on into the fourth frame. A pair of Ohio attack errors began a 5-1 run for the Falcons that shifted the lead in their favor. BG led by as many as three points until Ohio found their way back to tie the set at 19-19. A few points later, with the score tied at 20-20, Wilford and Hobson teamed up for back-to-back kills which ignited the Bowling Green offense to take five of the next eight points to secure a 25-23 set victory.
In the deciding set, the two sides found themselves tied at 9-9 until Bowling Green exploded with a 5-0 run that brought them two points away from ending the match. After trading points, Hobson landed her 22nd kill of the night to end the contest with a 15-11 set win.

- Junior Sydnie Herandez has recorded 972 career digs, 78 away from the 1,000-dig milestone that has been achieved by 13 players in program history.
- Bozic finished with a .410 attack percentage, marking the second time this season that she has hit at a .400-clip or better.
- Otten's 51 assists is her highest single-match total since Sept. 13 at Loyola Chicago when she recorded 52 helpers.

- Bowling Green's .257 attack percentage was the highest in a five-set match in nine contests that have gone to the deciding set. The last time that the Falcon's hit at a .287-clip at #17 Purdue on Sept. 4, 2025.
