BGSU sees the season come to an end with just three losses in 18 matches
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team saw the 2026 season come to an end Saturday evening (Nov. 7), as Miami University advanced past the Falcons in a Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal match at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field. The teams battled to a scoreless, double-overtime draw, before the RedHawks got past the Falcons via penalty kicks.
The Falcons, (8-3-7 [4-2-5 MAC]), the number-five seed for the tournament, outshot Miami, 16-8, and BGSU put eight shots on goal to the RedHawks' three.
But, goalkeeper Dominique Popa came up big for the fourth-seeded RedHawks (9-6-5 [5-2-4 MAC]), saving one penalty kick in the second overtime and three more during the PK phase to send her team to the semifinals.
The Falcons lost just three times in 18 matches in 2026, tying the school record for fewest losses in a (non-COVID) season – a record which was set a year ago.
More information will be available late Saturday night.
