Bowling Green Sends Multiple Falcons to Finals, Remains Ninth at MACs

AKRON, Ohio – Day three of the MAC Championships saw multiple Falcons advance to A and B finals and three swimmers etch their names into the program record book.
Friday morning opened with the 100-yard butterfly, where Karina Solera (55.74) and Grace Bodrock (55.77) secured spots in the B final. Bodrock's preliminary swim shaved time off her previous best of 55.81, replacing her into former 10th place mark on the Bowling Green all-time list. The duo went on to place 13th and 16th overall, respectively.
Bowling Green placed two more swimmers in the 400 individual medley B final. Bridget Kurtzweil clocked a 4:26.77, while Maddie Bond followed at 4:28.18, as the pair finished 15th and 16th. In the 200 freestyle, the Falcons did not advance a finalist, but Eva Nixon delivered a personal-best 1:54.42 in preliminaries.
Lauren Jablonski added another B final appearance for the Falcons in the 100 breaststroke. She touched in 1:02.25 during finals to claim 13th overall.
The 100 backstroke produced two more consolation finalists. Bella Treib's 54.30 in prelims earned her a spot in the B final and met the NIC B-cut standard, while Emily McNicol posted a 53.87 to place ninth and advance as well. In finals, Treib finished 13th in 54.49, and McNicol 15th with a 55.22.
On the boards, Natalia Mayorga led Bowling Green in the three-meter dive preliminaries with a fourth-place score of 280.45, earning a berth in Saturday night's A final. Elise Snyder scored 245.45 in prelims to reach the B final and improved to 247.40 in finals, finishing 13th overall.
Bowling Green capped the evening in the 200 freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:31.50 to take eighth place. During the relay, Samia Becdach delivered a 23.14 split in the 50 freestyle, tying Brittany Szekely for fourth all-time in program history.
Through three days, the Falcons sit ninth in the team standings with 97 points, trailing Toledo by 24.
The MAC Championships conclude Saturday. Preliminary action begins at 10 a.m. with the 1650 freestyle, followed by the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly. Senior recognition is scheduled for 5:45 p.m., with finals set to begin at 6:10 p.m. The meet will close with the 400 freestyle relay and the championship awards ceremony at approximately 8:55 p.m.
