BGSU Athletics’ Falcon Club Reports Record-Setting Year

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University athletic department turned in record-setting numbers in fundraising for the 2025-26 academic year. The Falcon Club and individual sport enhancement funds generated a record $3,066,381 in annual fund contributions, the highest total in department history and the first time annual fund fundraising has eclipsed the $3 million milestone.

Overall, BGSU Athletics raised $5,258,234, fueled by the generosity of 2,852 unique donors, during Fiscal Year 2026 through annual giving, major gifts, capital support and other philanthropic initiatives. The record-setting annual fund performance made BGSU Athletics one of the University's leading drivers of philanthropic support during Fiscal Year 2026, reflecting the extraordinary generosity of BGSU Alumni and supporters.

Among the year's defining moments was a historic BGSU One Day, the University's annual day of giving. Falcon supporters contributed $1,286,326 from 1,786 donors, surpassing the campaign's ambitious $1 million goal.

"The record-setting success of our Falcon Club is a direct testament to the support from our community," said Vice President of Athletics Strategy Derek van der Merwe. "Our donors have embraced new ventures and made our movement forward possible through an ever-changing collegiate landscape."

As a department, the Falcon Club has produced 61-percent growth in annual giving dollars raised by athletics over the past three years. On top of that, the athletic department has accumulated a 72-percent growth in annual giving dollars raised over the last six years.

"This historic year is a reflection of the incredible generosity of those who believe in the mission of BGSU Athletics," said Senior Associate AD for Development Nathan Anderson. "Every gift—regardless of size—represents someone choosing to invest in our student-athletes and their future. We are grateful to everyone whose support continues to elevate the student-athlete experience at Bowling Green. These milestones belong to every donor who chose to invest in BGSU Athletics."
