BGSU Men’s Basketball Announces Full 2026-27 Schedule Highlighted By Cleveland State Home Opener

Road Trip To Indiana Tops Non-Conference Slate For Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program has announced the 2026-27 schedule. The Falcons are scheduled to compete in 22 Mid-American Conference games in addition to 10 non-conference games for a total of 32 contests, hosting 18 games while hitting the road for 14. The MAC total marks the most conference games in a season for BGSU in program history, surpassing 20 games from the 2021-22 season as the previous high. The non-conference portion of the 2026-27 schedule for Bowling Green as well as game times and TV designations will be announced at a later date with the schedule subject to change.
"We are excited for the challenge for the team this season," said head men's basketball coach Todd Simon. "The MAC changing to 22 conference games will make MAC play be a three-month season starting in December, which will be exciting for our fans. We also have the Sun Belt Challenge once again along with a non-conference slate that is headlined by a trip to Indiana. Our 18-game home slate gives our fans an opportunity to follow this group closely all season long."

Season ticket renewals are available now for those that had season tickets last year! Fans can take advantage of our Early Bird discount on season tickets from now until August 21! After August 21, prices will increase and any unrenewed season tickets will be released to the public. Current season ticket holders may renew their season tickets online or by contacting the BGSU Ticket Office at 419-372-0000. Fans interested in purchasing new season tickets can purchase season tickets online or by calling the BGSU Ticket Office. Please note that courtside tickets cannot be renewed online and must be renewed over the phone or in-person.
New At The Stroh
Bowling Green will be welcoming a new concession partner to all on-campus athletic venues this year, including the Stroh Center Beginning with the 2026-27 season, BGSU Dining by Chartwells will be elevating the game day food and beverage experience for fans at Bowling Green games. Stayed tuned for new menu items and promotions throughout the season.
Meet The Falcons
The Falcons return six players from the 2025-26 roster, led by junior guard Josiah Shackelford who was one of five Falcons to appear in all 32 games last season. Shackelford averaged 11.3 points per game, including making 41 three-pointers over the course of the season. The returning unit will be supplemented by an incoming group that has a combined two Player of the Year awards and five All-Conference regular season recognitions at the collegiate level. 2026-27 Schedule
The season will begin with an exhibition for the Falcons in the Battle of Bowling Green, facing Western Kentucky on the road in the other Bowling Green on Oct. 20. The regular season will begin for the Falcons on Nov. 2 in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge, heading south to Georgia State.
The home opener for the Falcons will bring in an Ohio opponent, welcoming Cleveland State into the Stroh Center on Nov. 9. The homestand will continue for Bowling Green on Nov. 12 with Niagara visiting the Stroh for the second time in the last three years with BGSU claiming a 76-68 home victory over the Purple Eagles on Nov. 19, 2024.
A brief pause to the homestand will occur on Nov. 17 with the Falcons heading to William & Mary, a team that tallied a 20-win season in 2025-26. The trip will be the first in program history to Kaplan Arena for BGSU with the first two meetings all-time against the Tribe being in Bowling Green.
The homestand will resume for the Orange and Brown on Nov. 21, hosting Northern Illinois quickly followed by Gardner-Webb on Nov. to wrap up the homestand. The final game in November for the Falcons will be a trip to face Indiana on Nov. 27 inside Assembly Hall.
Bowling Green will begin conference play within the MAC on Dec. 2 on the road at Kent State. The game marks the earliest MAC start for the Falcons since opening the 1998-99 campaign on the road at Ohio on Dec. 2, 1998. The game is the first of four conference games in December for BGSU.
The MAC home opener for the Falcons is set for Dec. 5 inside the Stroh Center, welcoming Western Michigan as the first conference opponent to step into the building for the season. After a brief break, Bowling Green's schedule will resume on Dec. 16 at home, hosting Miami (OH) before hitting the road at Akron on Dec. 19.
The non-conference schedule will resume for a pair of games for the Falcons before the calendar turns, hosting Cornerstone University on Dec. 22 and Aquinas on Dec. 29. When the calendar flips over to 2027, the Falcons will be in full MAC-mode with the exception of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge game on Feb. 6 that will mark the conclusion of the non-conference schedule.
To begin 2027, the Falcons will remain at home, hosting Ohio on Jan. 2. The schedule will then take them on the road for three of their next four, traveling to Central Michigan on Jan. 5, Eastern Michigan on Jan. 9 and Buffalo on Jan. 16 with a home game against Ball State on Jan. 12 breaking up the travel.
The schedule will return the favor with three of the final four games in January being at home for the Falcons. The homestand will start on Jan. 19 against UMass and continue on Jan. 23 against Kent State. A brief road trip to Western Michigan on Jan. 26 will break it up before the first meeting in the Battle of I-75, scheduled to be at home in the Stroh Center on Jan. 30.
The Falcons will kick off the month of February with alternating home and away contests. The month will start on the road at Ball State on Feb. 2 before returning home for the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge on Feb. 6. BGSU will hit the road again on Feb. 9 at Miami (OH) before back-to-back home games, hosting Buffalo on Feb. 13 and Akron on Feb. 16.
