Chmiel, Falcons Unveil 2026-27 Schedule

Challenging slate includes 16 games inside the Stroh Center
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Comm.) – Bowling Green State University women's basketball head coach Fred Chmiel and the Falcons have announced the schedule for the 2026-27 season.
The Falcons' schedule includes a season-opening four-game homestand, kicking off a 2026-27 campaign which will include a total of 16Â games inside the Stroh Center.
The non-conference slate also includes road contests against Penn State in November and Notre Dame in December, and the 18-game Mid-American Conference schedule begins on the second day of January.
"Our pre-conference schedule has some very challenging opponents that should prepare us for a very challenging Mid-American Conference schedule," said Chmiel.

Season ticket renewals are available now for those that had season tickets last year! Fans can take advantage of our Early Bird discount on season tickets from now until August 21! After August 21, prices will increase and any unrenewed season tickets will be released to the public. New At The Stroh
Bowling Green will be welcoming a new concession partner to all on-campus athletic venues this year, including the Stroh Center. Beginning with the 2026-27 season, BGSU Dining by Chartwells will be elevating the game-day food and beverage experience for fans at Bowling Green games. Stay tuned for new menu items and promotions throughout the season.Â
The Schedule
The four-game season-opening homestand begins on Monday, Nov. 2, with a game against Georgia Southern in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. Home games vs. Cleveland State (Nov. 5), Bellarmine (Nov. 10 – Kid's Day Game) and Lawrence Tech (Nov. 16) follow, before the first road trip of the season sees the Falcons face Penn State on Nov. 19. Head coach Fred Chmiel was on the Nittany Lions' coaching staff for four years, while BGSU assistant coach Maggie Lucas was a standout on the court for those same PSU teams.
Then, the Orange and Brown will head to Naples, Fla., for a pair of games in the Florida Gulf Classic (Nov. 27-28). BGSU's opponents in Naples will be announced at a later date.
The December portion of the schedule begins with two games in North Carolina, as BGSU meets North Carolina A&T (Dec. 1) and UNC Wilmington (Dec. 3). Then, on Sunday, Dec. 13, the Falcons will head to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have won all four previous series meetings, but each of the last two matchups, in 2006-07 and '07-08, went to overtime.
The Falcons return home to face St. Thomas two days later (Dec. 15), before ending the pre-holiday schedule with a short trip to face Purdue Fort Wayne (Dec. 21). Then, one week later (Dec. 28), the Orange and Brown will wrap up the 2026 calendar year as well as the pre-conference schedule with a home contest vs. Fresno State.
The Falcons' 18-game league slate includes four Saturday games inside the Stroh Center. The MAC schedule begins with a pair of road games to start the new year, before BGSU opens the home portion of the league schedule vs. Buffalo on Saturday, Jan. 9.
The league schedule features two games each against UB, arch-rival Toledo, Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Massachusetts and Ohio. BGSU will meet Akron, Kent State, Miami and Western Michigan one time each.
Both 2026-27 editions of 'The Battle of I-75' will take place on Saturdays, as the Falcons welcome the Rockets to the Stroh on Jan. 23, before venturing to the Glass City on the final weekend of February (Feb. 27).
In addition to the dates with UB and UT, the Falcons' home portion of the conference schedule also includes matchups with Western Michigan (Jan. 13), Kent State (Jan. 27), UMass (Feb. 3), Ohio (Feb. 13), Ball State (Feb. 20), Eastern Michigan (Feb. 24) and Central Michigan (March 3).
The road portion of the MAC schedule sees the Orange and Brown will travel to face Ohio (Jan. 2), Central Michigan (Jan. 6), Ball State (Jan. 16), Eastern Michigan (Jan. 20), Buffalo (Jan. 30), Akron (Feb. 10), Miami (Feb. 17) and UMass (March 6) as well as the Rockets.
In addition to the aforementioned MAC-Sun Belt Challenge matchup vs. Georgia Southern on Nov. 2, BGSU will hit the road to face a Sun Belt school to be determined on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Falcon fans can get their first look at the 2026-27 team on Oct. 25, when BGSU hosts Ohio Dominican in an exhibition game at the Stroh.
