BGVB Opens 2026 Campaign With Dream BiG, Exhibition Against Gannon

Multiple Falcons Post Double-Doubles In Exhibition
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team opened up the 2026 season over the last two days, hosting the fifth annual Dream BiG event on Friday (Aug. 21) followed by the team's exhibition on Saturday (Aug. 22).
Dream BiG
The Falcons held the fifth annual Dream BiG event Friday night (Aug. 21) on Champions Court inside the Stroh Center. The evening included welcoming the community into the Stroh to meet the team as well as speakers and an auction portion of the night.
The evening's keynote speaker for former BGSU defensive specialist and libero from 2021-24, Lindsay LaPinta, who aided in capturing two MAC titles for the Falcons as well as serving as a captain during the 2024 NIVC Runner-Up finish. LaPinta touched on the impact that Bowling Green, both as a whole and as a volleyball program, has had on her life. At the center of that impact rested the community surrounding BGVB; teammates, coaches, fans and donors.
"I've shared what Bowling Green volleyball gave me," said LaPinta. "Trust, the power of a true team and generosity beyond anything I could have imagined. But none of it happened by accident. It happened because people before me chose to invest in this program so that girls like me could have the chance to become something more. As we navigate the four years we spend in this program, we fail, we learn, we grow and we become. That's what Bowling Green volleyball does. It takes a girl and gives her the chance to walk out a woman, stronger and better than before."
Following LaPinta's speech, Van Wright took the mic and led the auction for the evening. Cheesecake brownies from Mandys Candys were auctioned off, going for $2,000. Additionally a trip to travel with the team to Ohio State went for $800. The night rounded out with Raise the Paddle donations and final remarks from head coach Alex DelPiombo.
The Match
The Falcons welcomed the fans back into the Stroh Center on Saturday (Aug. 22) for a 1 p.m. first serve against Gannon. The Orange and Brown delivered with an exciting atmosphere for fans, led by a raucous showing from the Falcon Fanatics to set the tone. Playing a pre-determined four-set match, the Falcons came away victorious behind multiple double-double efforts across the roster.

The Falcons will officially begin the 2026 season next weekend with a trip to Columbus for the Jim Stone Challenge. Bowling Green will open the year against Ohio State with a 6 p.m. first serve on Friday (Aug. 28) at the Covelli Center.
