BGSU Have Won Five Out of Their Last Six Matches

Bowling Green, Ohio – Sophomore Karli Molnau put down a team-high 15 kills on 28 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage to lead Bowling Green to a 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22) victory over Dayton Friday evening at the Stroh Center.

The Falcons improved to 8-2 overall and have won five out of their last six matches, meanwhile, Dayton fell to 7-5 on the season.

Senior Avery Hobson added 14 kills and 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Fellow senior Amanda Otten dished out a match-high 31 assists while junior Sydnie Hernandez led the team with 14 digs. Bowling Green won the blocking battle, 14-6, with senior Helen Wilford accounting for five block assists.

For the Flyers, Kaleigh Meritt notched a match-high 18 kills and teammate Kamryn Hunt added 16. Morgan Asleson tallied 15 digs as the Flyers recorded a 65-56 margin in that category.

In a back-and-forth opening set that featured ten tie scores and six lead changes, a 5-1 run late in the period allowed Dayton to take 23-21 lead. Bowling Green flipped the script and ended that set on a 5-1 slide of their own to grab a 1-0 lead in the match.

Dayton exploded out to a 7-0 run in the second frame that ultimately led the Flyers to a 25-18 set victory to tie up the contest.

With Dayton leading 17-16 in the third set, BGSU rattled off a 9-2 run that allowed the Falcons to force set point and take the set, 25-22.

Bowling Green pieced together an 8-1 run midway through the fourth frame to jump out to a 19-13 advantage. A few points later, Dayton was able to piece together five consecutive scores to cut the deficit to just one, 22-21, however, Bowling Green took three of the next four points to close out the match.

Falcon Facts

Bowling Green matched up with Dayton for the 24th time in program history. BGSU leads the all-time series with a 14-10 record and registered their first win over the Flyers since 2005, snapping a four-match losing skid.
Hobson's double-double was the seventh of her career. She has the second-most double-doubles by any active player.
Bowling Green hit at a .301-clip as a team, the highest single-match average this season. BGSU is 6-0 under head coach Alex DelPiombo when hitting at .300-or-higher as a team.
BG has tallied double-digit block assists in every single match this season. The Falcons average 2.79 blocks per set and entered the contest 8^th in the nation in total blocks (97.5).
Helen Wilford registered back-to-back matches with six blocks and has tallied five-or-more in five of the Falcons' seven matches this season.
