BGSU Hockey Receives Votes In First USCHO Poll Of 2026-27

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The USCHO announced their preseason rankings for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign. The Bowling Green State University hockey team received 39 points in the poll, sitting just outside the top 20 with the total coming in 25th. The poll comes after a 2025-26 season where the Falcons finished 18-11-7 including finishing the season receiving votes in the poll as well.
Bowling Green is one of four teams from the CCHA to receive votes in the poll. Minnesota State led the way with 176 points, placing them 18th in the poll. Michigan Tech followed closely behind in 19th with 145 points. In addition to Bowling Green, Augustana also received votes, finishing with 70 to be the first team left outside the top 20.
As for Bowling Green opponents this year, the Falcons will be hosting the top two teams in the poll. BGSU's first foe of the season, Michigan, ranked second with 915 points, including six first place votes, and will visit Slater Family Ice Arena on Oct. 3, the home opener for the Orange and Brown. The Falcons will also host Denver this season, set for Jan. 1 and 2 at Slater Family Ice Arena with the Pioneers receiving 973 points and 35 first place votes to be the preseason No. 1 team in the nation.
In addition to Denver, Michigan and the CCHA teams receiving votes, Bowling Green will also face Sacred Heart (RV, 17 points) on Oct. 9, Connecticut (No. 15, 272) on Oct. 10 and Notre Dame (RV, 5) on Nov. 24 who all received votes in the poll.
The Falcons are closing in on beginning their season in less than two weeks. Bowling Green will open the year on the road at No. 2 Michigan on Oct. 2 with a recently released 7 p.m. puck drop before returning home to Slater Family Ice Arena on Oct. 3 to host the Wolverines in a sold out home opener at 6:07 p.m.
