Austin Gardner is entering his third year within the men’s basketball program. Gardner arrived at BGSU as a graduate assistant in 2018.
During his first year at Bowling Green, he earned a sixth year of eligibility in December of 2018 and finished the 2018-19 season as a member of the playing roster. The Falcons won 22 games that season and reached the MAC Championship Game for just the fourth time in school history.
A native of Bowling Green, Gardner came to the Falcons by way of the University of Findlay. He appeared in 94 games as an Oiler from 2013-18, and started 30 games as a senior in 2017-18 for a team that went 28-5 and reached the Midwest Region Championship Game. Gardner, a two-time captain and three-year starter at Findlay, played in three NCAA Tournaments, including two trips to the Sweet 16.
Gardner attended Toledo St. John’s Jesuit before earning his undergraduate degree in Sport and Event Management from UF. He also earned a graduate degree from Findlay in Education Human Resource Development with an emphasis on leadership.
