2010-11 (junior): Played in four games…posted two assists…tallied a helper in his first action of the season versus Michigan (Oct. 9)…notched his other assist against Alabama-Huntsville (Oct. 22)…put three shots on goal…finished the year with an even plus/minus rating…blocked two shots.
2009-10 (sophomore): Played in 27 games…set new career highs in goals (4), assists (3) and points (7)…first lit the scoreboard with his first career goal against Clarkson (Jan. 3) at the Dodge Holiday Classic tournament… tallied an assist in his next action against Ohio State (Jan. 9)…versus Western Michigan (Jan. 22) he netted a penalty shot for his second goal of the season in a tie with the Broncos…scored a goal against Notre Dame (Feb. 19) in the team’s 4-3 win over the Irish…finished the season on a high note with a goal in the team’s last game of the season during a first round playoff loss to Nebraska-Omaha (March 6)…blocked five shots and spent eight minutes in the penalty box as a result of four penalties.
2008-09 (freshman): Played in seven games, all from mid-January on...hit the ice for the first time against Ohio State (Jan. 10)…took one shot against Ferris State (Feb. 13)…ended the year with a (-1) rating.
Prior to BGSU: Spent the 2007-08 season splitting time between Tri-City of the USHL and Burnaby of the BCHL...had 10 points (1g, 9a) in 32 games for the Burnaby Express with 16 PIM...had six points (2g, 4a) in 13 games for the Tri-City Storm with one power-play and one game-winning goal...played for the U.S. National Development Team from 2005 to 2007, dressing for both the U-18 and U-17 teams.
Personal: Full name -- Brennan Ernesto Vargas...born June 15, 1989...has two sisters (Alicia and Amber)...is the son of Ernie and Patti Vargas...father, Ernie, played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin before going onto a professional career...his grandfather, Ray Cronk, played college basketball at the University of Minnesota...is a graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.
