2000-01: Played in 33 games recorded first collegiate point Dec. 9 vs. Neb.-Omaha (an assist) led defensemen in +/- with +3.
1999-2000: Played in 23 games named to the CCHA All-Academic Special Mention team had an even or plus (+/- rating) in 20 of his 23 games had a season-high two shots on goal in both games against Alabama-Huntsville (Jan. 21-22) and Mar. 3 against Michigan was a +1 (plus/minus rating) in three straight contests from Feb. 5-12.
1998-99: Played his first two collegiate games at Neb.-Omaha (Jan. 2-3) saw action against Ferris State (Jan. 23) and Western Michigan (Feb. 6) was on the ice for an even-strength goal for in both contests against the UNO Mavericks had one shot on goal in each of his four games played.
Pre-College: Played for the Soo Indians of the North American (Junior) Hockey League (NAHL) during the 1997-98 campaign scoring 47 points (10 goals/37 assists) recorded a team-best plus/minus rating of +41 with 149 penalty minutes was selected an all-star in the NAHL both in 1996 and 1998 voted best defenseman on the Indians in 1996 and again in 1998 club advanced to the United States National Junior Tournament championship in 1997 Indians won the 1997 Compuware tournament best single-game was a five-point outing (three goals and two assists) in 1998 against the Cleveland Junior Barons.

Statkus born October 5, 1978, in Evergreen Park, Illinois son of Joseph and JoEllen Statkus has an older sister (Jenny) criminal justice major shoots right has maintained a 3.51 grade-point average through 2001 spring semester made the Dean's List for the 1999 spring semester with a 3.60 gpa 1996 graduate of Sault Area High in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan member of the National Honor Society in high school pronounced STAT-kiss.
