Pre-College: Played four years with the Merritt Centennials in the BCHL under Mike Vandekamp • was assistant captain his last two seasons • Merritt finished second last season in the Interior Division as Minnabarriet had 48 points (13 goals, 35 assists) • two years ago, he recorded a career-high 71 points (28 goals, 43 assists) • was team's Rookie of the Year in 1997-98 season after recording 20 goals and 14 assists • also named Academic Scholar that season • was the team's MVP and leading scorer in 1998-99 while being named Playoff MVP in 1999-2000 • named to the International Division All-Star Team in 1999-2000.
