Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Chris Brennan returned to the program in the summer of 2021. Head coach Eric Nichols added Brennan to his staff as a volunteer assistant coach.
"We are really fortunate to be able to bring Chris back into the program for the fall," said Nichols. "In addition to his charisma and positive energy, his personal soccer acumen and intimate knowledge of our program will be another fantastic resource for our players."
Brennan, a four-year starter for Nichols and the Falcons, scored a total of 41 points during his BGSU career. His career total of 15 goals included three seasons with at least four goals, and he posted double-digit point totals in three of his four years as well.
A native of Copley, Ohio, Brennan finished second on the team in scoring as a freshman in 2016. His 12 points included five goals, tying him for the team lead. and, those five goals included the game-winning marker at Cleveland State, when he scored with just four seconds remaining in the second overtime.
Brennan was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team as a sophomore in 2017, after leading the team with five goals and 14 points. One of those goals came against the number-one team in the nation, Notre Dame. Brennan was named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the first of three consecutive seasons.
In 2018, Brennan missed several matches due to injury, but still was ranked No. 14 on Top Drawer Soccer's list of the top-20 players in the MAC. He was named to the Academic All-Ohio First Team for the first of two-straight seasons, in addition to making a repeat appearance on the Academic All-MAC Team.
As a senior, Brennan scored 12 points despite missing six-plus matches due to injury, and was named to the All-MAC Second Team as he helped the Falcons reach the championship match of the MAC Tournament. Brennan's 12 points in 2019 included four goals and four assists. Two of the four goals were game winners, against Cleveland State and Canisius.
A two-time team captain, Brennan played in 64 career matches as a Falcon, making 48 starts.
A graduate of Copley H.S., he was a three-time All-Ohio First-Team selection, and was named Ohio's Mr. Soccer in Division I in 2014. He graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer, with a whopping 187 points on 76 goals and 35 assists. Brennan was named to the NSCAA Boys' Fall High School All-America Team no fewer than three times.
Brennan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from BGSU in May of 2020.
