Jonathan "Finny" Sayer begins his second season with the Bowling Green State University men's soccer program, and his first as an assistant coach, in 2026. Sayer, a Bowling Green native, joined the Falcons in July of 2025.
Sayer spent the fall 2025 season as a team manager and camp coordinator for the Falcons, and was involved in planning and daily operations for the program's youth and ID soccer camps, as well as serving as the primary point of contact for campers, parents and staff. He also had a hand in all aspects of practices and match-day operations in his managerial role.
In January of 2026, Sayer was named the program's director of community outreach and competition analytics, coordinating a myriad of community-driven events as well as collecting, analyzing and presenting competition data and supporting match preparation for the Falcons.
Sayer began his collegiate playing career at the University of Mount Union, spending the 2022-23 academic year in Alliance before transferring to BGSU and joining the club soccer program. He played for that team from August 2023 to December of 2025, serving as Club Soccer President from December of 2024 through December of 2025.
Sayer has also gained coaching experience through the BGSU men's soccer D-League program as well as the team's residential camps, and he also serves as the club soccer program's second-team coach.
Sayer, a member of the Dean's List during his entire BGSU undergraduate tenure, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree in December of 2025, graduating with a 3.93 cumulative GPA. He graduated summa cum laude, and his accolades included being named Outstanding Communication Student of the Year.
