Alexis Smith, a former goalkeeper at Bowling Green from 2014-16 has joined the Falcons women’s soccer coaching staff as an Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach. In addition to her position as assistant coach, she also is the Girls Youth Director for the local club in Perrysburg, Perrysburg Soccer Club. She also is a staff coach with Pacesetter Soccer Club and is head coach of the girls U16 MRL P2 team.
Smith currently holds an "E" license with US Soccer and is in the process of obtaining her "D". She holds an "Advanced National Goal Keeping Diploma" with United Soccer Coaches and is scheduled to receive her "National Diploma" with United Soccer Coaches.
Smith recently graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from BGSU in 2016. After graduation, Smith played one season in the WPSL with the Cleveland Ambassadors.
Prior to earning the assistant position Smith was also a volunteer assistant from Jan. 2017 to June 2017 and student assistant coach for Bowling Green from Jan. 2016 to Dec. 2016, working primarily with the goalkeepers, in addition to coaching the youth local soccer club BGSC since March 2015 and was the Assistant Director of Coaching for the club.
In her time competing for Bowling Green, Smith saw action in 10 matches across two seasons and totaled 346:18 minutes on the pitch for the Falcons. Smith registered 23 saves in goal, including a career-high of nine versus Western Michigan in Oct. 2015.
Prior to Bowling Green, Smith played two years at Schoolcraft College in Michigan, where she posted a 0.18 goals against average in two seasons by allowing just one goal with 29 saves. Smith’s defensive leadership raised the Ocelots to a 13-2-1 overall record in her sophomore campaign, ultimately leading to the Region XII regular season title. A multi-sport athlete, Smith also lettered in basketball, and averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game to earn All-Eastern Conference Team Honorable Mention honors.
In four years at Franklin High School, Smith was a four-time All-Conference selection and earned All-Region First Team honors in her senior season of 2012. Smith also earned a total of 10 letters during her time at Franklin High, spanning soccer, golf and basketball, all sports in which she served as team captain.
