Fisher's defenses have been a strength for TSU, helping the team achieve a 24-22 overall record under George, including a 9-4 season in 2024 that secured a tie for the Big South/Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championship and a berth in the FCS playoffs. The defense has ranked in the top three in the conference in total defense each of the past four years and has frequently placed in the top 30 nationally. TSU’s passing defense was No. 1 in the Big South/Ohio Valley Conference all four years Fisher was at TSU.Â
Â
In 2024, the TSU unit allowed an average of 22.8 points per game and ranked second in the Big South-OVC with 334.9 yards allowed per game, showcasing its ability to limit opposing offenses. Fisher also recruited and developed the 2023 Buck Buchanan Award Winner Terrell Allen. The award given annually to the top defensive player in all of FCS. Allen was also named the Big South/Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Â
Fisher’s impact has been notable since his arrival from Auburn, where he was a defensive analyst in 2020. Fisher worked directly with defensive coordinator Kevin Steele throughout the year and took over on-field duties for the Tigers appearance in the 2021 Citrus Bowl after Steele was promoted to interim head coach.
Â
Prior to Auburn, Fisher spent one season as the defensive coordinator at Southern Utah University. While at SUU, Fisher’s unit ranked seventh in the Big Sky Conference, improving on the 13th place finish prior to his arrival. The defense allowed over 100 yards less per game than the previous season, while the Thunderbird’s pass defense jumped from 13th to second in the Big Sky.
Â
Fisher entered the collegiate ranks after eight seasons in the NFL. In his last stint in the professional ranks, Fisher served as the secondary coach from 2015-17 for the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams. In 2016, the Rams' secondary finished 10th in passing yards allowed.
Â
Fisher began his coaching career in 2010 as an offensive assistant for the Tennessee Titans. In 2011, Fisher held the position of assistant secondary coach with the Detroit Lions under Jim Schwartz and Gunther Cunningham. After one season, Fisher joined the Rams as an assistant secondary coaching, a position he held for three seasons.
Â
Fisher, the son of former Titans and Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from the University of Montana in 2009. As a player, Fisher was a two-year starter at outside linebacker for the Grizzlies and appeared in two FCS Championship games.
Fisher and his wife, Anne, have a daughter, Emme, and a son, Cam.
