Kopchak served as an assistant coach for over a decade at the high school level. She coached at Morrison R. Waite High School and Eastwood High School from 2003-13 before joining the Falcons in 2014. As an assistant coach with the Falcons, Kopchak primarily worked with the outfielders and slappers while assisting in other day-to-day operations of the program.

Kopchak was a standout on the diamond for the Falcons from 1991-95, and the four-year letterwinner from Ashland, Ohio, had a career year in 1993. A left-handed slapper, she appeared in 49 games that spring, hitting .304 (41-for-135), scoring 26 runs (second most on the team) and recording seven RBI. She also accounted for three doubles and four triples on the season, earning All-MAC Second-Team honors.
A graduate of Ashland High School, Kopchak was a three-time All-Ohio Heartland Conference (OHC) selection. She was also a three-time Northwest Ohio Softball District choice and a two-time All-Ohio selection. Kopchak led AHS to three OHC league championships, an OHSAA sectional appearance and a regional runner-up finish in 1989.
Kopchak graduated from BGSU in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and health. She earned her Master's degree in education (special education) from BGSU in 2006. Kopchak currently serves on the Wood Lane Industries Human Rights Committee and the BGSU Women’s Basketball Fundraiser Committee.
