Laura Fischer joined BGSU in 2005 as a BGSU Ice Arena Graduate Assistant. In 2008, she became a staff assistant and in 2011, she began working as the Program Coordinator, where she works directly with the Director to develop and manage all operations, programs, and services of the Ice Arena.Â
Prior to BGSU, Laura was a student skating instructor at Miami Univeristy for four years. From there, she went on to Become a professional skating instructor and off-ice instructor form 2004-2011, where she was part of the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid. She then became a BGSU Ice Arena Graduate Assistant for two years. From here, she became a skating director at Lake George Forum for one year. She is currently an instructor for PEG Basic Ice Skating.Â
 Fischer also has an impressive figure skating background. She was a  Miami University Senior Varsity Synchronized Skating Team member from 2001-2005. She was named  Rookie of the Year Award in 2001-2002. She was a member of the World Synchronized Skating Team, USFSA in  2002, 2003 and 2005. She was also a member of the International Synchronized Skating Team, USFSA from 2001-2005. She is currently a United States Figure Skating member (USFS), which she joined  in 1993, and is also currently a Professional Skaters Association member (PSA), which she joined in 2000. Begining in 2011, she became a member of the Ice Skating Institute.Â
Fischer earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Sport Studies in 2005 from Miami University. She then went on to earn her Master of Education in Human Movement, Sports and Leisure Studies in May 2011 from BGSU. She specialized in developmental kinesiology with a focus on exercise physiology.Â
