Ray Schneider began at Bowling Green in 1998. Schneider is a tenured professor and the Director of the School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies (HMSLS), College of Education and Human Development.
Schneider's primary duties are overseeing all aspects of the School of HMSLS, conducting and publishing scholarly research, and serving as BGSU's Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA, MAC, and CCHA as appointed by the President. As the Faculty Athletics Representative, Schneider provides oversight of BGSU Athletics in terms of institutional control, academics, and student-athlete welfare.

Schneider is an active scholar examining issues in intercollegiate sport such as college athletic memorabilia and perceptions of equity. He has been published in leading academic journals, some of which include the Journal of Sport Management, International Journal of Sport Management, and The College Student Journal. In addition, Schneider has authored several books including Bobby Bowden: Win By Win and Cavallini from Kane. Originally from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, he earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University.
