Wil Rankin was named Associate Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach in February 2026 after spending two years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Big Walnut High School. Rankin assists with all aspects of BGSU football’s strength and conditioning program.

Before Big Walnut, Rankin spent two seasons as an Assistant Football Strength and Conditioning Coach at Marshall from 2022 to 2024. He also served as a Coaching Assistant at New Mexico State (2021-22).

Rankin began his career interning with Oregon football (2018-2020), where the Ducks won a PAC-12 title and the Rose Bowl, before joining the Ohio State football Strength and Conditioning staff in the same role from 2020-2021. During his time in Columbus, the Buckeyes won the 2020 Big Ten Championship, College Football Playoff Sugar Bowl and earned a National Championship Game appearance.

A native of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Rankin played offensive line at Ohio Northern University from 2015-2019. He was a four-year member of the team’s leadership council and served as a team captain. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio Northern in 2019 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Bowling Green. Rankin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.
