Moment No. 6 From 2009-10: The Stroh Center
July 09, 2010 | General
Throughout the summer, we'll be releasing our list of the Top 10 Moments of the 2009-10 athletic year at BGSU. The list was compiled and voted on by members of the Athletics Department administration and the Athletic Communications office. We'll release the list one at a time until announcing the No. 1 moment of the year on Aug. 2. Today, we look back at our No. 6 moment of the year.
The Stroh Center Building Project Begins
When Kermit and Mary Lu Stroh gave $8 million to build the new home for Falcon men's and women's basketball and volleyball, the Stroh Center was still in many ways a distant dream. But over the past year, that dream has become reality as the actual arena has been built. In September, BGSU held the ceremonial groundbreaking. In January, the first steel beam was placed. And then, in May, the Topping Off Ceremony was held, signifying the completion of all structural beams. At that ceremony, it was also announced that the BGSU Athletics Department had completed the $14 million fundraising effort. While the building is not yet complete, the past year has been a significant one for the Stroh Center and BGSU Athletics. Read all the information about the new arena at the Stroh Center webpage.
