LaMarcus Hicks was named Bowling Green's secondary coach in January of 2018. He joined the Falcon football staff as the secondary coach after serving two seasons at Jackson State. Previously, he held collegiate coaching positions at North Texas, Concordia and Rhodes College.

"I am very grateful to join the BGSU coach staff and a program that has great tradition," Hicks said. "I want to thank Coach Jinks and Coach Carl Pelini for this opportunity. I'm looking forward to coaching this group of young men and helping them achieve goals on the football field and off the field as well."

Hicks was part of a defense that ranked in the top 40 in the country in total defense. The team ranked No. 29 nationally in passing efficiency allowed and No. 16 in passing yards allowed at just 171.3 per game. In his first season at Jackson State in 2016, the program ranked in the top 30 nationally in total defense and passing yards allowed.

Prior to coaching at JSU, Hicks coached two years at North Texas. Hicks' defensive backs for the Mean Green experienced a record breaking season in 2014. North Texas had seven different DBs record at least one interception. Two Mean Green corners scored a defensive touchdown after the turnovers. Cornerback James Jones was named Second Team Conference USA in 2014.

Hicks spent his collegiate career at Iowa State University playing safety. In his senior season, he recorded a conference-leading five interceptions and was named First Team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week twice.

Hicks began coaching in 2010 at Rhodes College. Prior to coaching, he played professionally with the Detroit Lions for two seasons.

A native of Clarksdale, Miss., Hicks received his bachelor's degree from Iowa State in 2006.
