Falcons Head To Notre Dame, Auburn

THIS WEEK: The Bowling Green State University cross country teams will enjoy a week off from competition before returning to action the following weekend. Both Falcon squads will compete on Friday, October 1, with the men's team heading to Alabama and the women travelling to Indiana.
The men's squad of head coach Sterling Martin will open the month of October at the Pre-South Regional Meet in Auburn, Ala. That race will begin at 5:00 p.m. That same day, Cami Wells and the BGSU women will head to the Notre Dame Invitational, a race scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
The following week, both squads will travel to Delaware, Ohio, for the All Ohio Championships.
LAST WEEKEND: BGSU hosted the Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday afternoon (Sept. 18). The Falcon men finished fourth of 11 teams, while the BGSU women placed second of 12 teams. The runner-up finish ended a four-year Mel Brodt title run for the Falcon women.
Individually, Kreg Hatfield led the Falcon men, placing 10th overall. Tom Kutter finished 12th in the race. The BGSU women were led by Christine Thompson, who finished fourth overall, and Nikki Monroe, who was ninth.

HEAD COACHES Men: Sterling Martin (second year) Women: Cami Wells (first year)
Sterling Martin is in his second season as the BG men's cross country and track coach. Martin, a 1987 graduate of Drake University, came to BG after five years as men's cross country coach at his alma mater.
Bowling Green women's cross country coach Cami Wells is in her first season. Prior to coming to BG, Wells served as the head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach at Wichita State. Like Martin, Wells is a graduate of Drake University. She received her master's degree from Wichita State.
