For the first time all season, the Falcons did not have a better shooting percentage than the opponent. Xavier had a .524 success rate from the field to BG's .453, and the hosts had more rebounds and fewer turnovers than the Brown and Orange. The result was a 15-point Musketeer win.
BGSU used a 9-0 run to take an 11-10 lead just five minutes into the contest, and the Falcons were within four points when a Jaymee Wappes jumper off a steal made it 25-21, Xavier, with seven minutes left in the half. The hosts, however, scored the next nine points to take a 13-point lead, and BG never got closer than six points thereafter.
Sophomore Francine Miller had another stellar night, scoring a game-high 26 points. Miller, who tied her career scoring high set just nine days prior, also led BG with six rebounds. Angie Farmer hit double digits for the fourth-straight game, with 10 points off the bench.
All five XU starters were in double figures. The Musketeers, who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year (and nearly won at UConn in that round), were paced by 16 points from Jennifer Phillips. Amy Waugh and Nicole Levandusky each had 15 markers, with Waugh dishing out 10 assists.
Xavier's 27 three-pointers attempted represented the fewest treys hoisted by a BG opponent this season.
