Francine Miller led the way as the Falcons opened the home schedule with a 19-point win. The sophomore scored 20 of her game- and career-high 26 points in the second half, as BG erased an eight-point halftime deficit.
Bouyed by a 5-for-5 shooting performance (all three-pointers) by Shannon O'Connell, SBU led for nearly the entire first half. The Bonnies led by as many as nine points late in the first half, before settling for a 45-37 lead at the break.
After shooting just .333 from the floor in the first half, BGSU went 17-for-32 (.532) in the second stanza. The teams traded baskets to open the half before the Brown and Orange went on an 11-0 run. Miller got things started with a three-point play and a layup, and Dana Western's three-point play capped the run and gave BG a 50-47 lead with 14:57 remaining. The Falcons would not trail again.
After an SBU bucket, BGSU proceeded to score the next seven points. In all, the Brown and Orange fashioned a 27-5 run over a nine-minute span. Miller made a layup, then drained a three-pointer to give BG a 66-52 lead midway through the half. The Falcon lead remained in double digits, with the largest margin being the 19-point final score.
Three Falcons joined Miller in double digits, including Sherry Kahle (17), Angie Farmer (12) and Western (10). The home team outscored the Bonnies, 51-24, in the second half. Miller had a 7-of-10 performance from the field, including a pair of successful "threes" in as many attempts, and a perfect 10-of-10 night at the free-throw line.
Jaymee Wappes led the Falcons with six steals, tying her career high. BG forced St. Bonaventure into 23 turnovers on the night. Wappes had four assists to pace the team in that department.
Kahle and Miller each had eight rebounds in the game.
For the visitors, O'Connell finished the night with 21 points, while Angela Scott added 11 and Melissa Fazio 10. BGSU held Fazio, the Bonnies' top returning scorer, to a 5-of-20 shooting performance.
