Bowling Green State University assistant softball coach Amy Kyler, a pitcher for the Akron Racers of the Women's Pro Softball League, will be honored at tomorrow (Thursday, July 29) night's game. The Racers will host the first-place Tampa Bay Firestix in a 7:35 p.m. start at Akron's Firestone Stadium.
BGSU students presenting their I.D. at the gate will receive $2 off any ticket for the game.
Kyler, who has started each of the WPSL's two all-star games in history, currently has a 6-5 record and an earned-run average of 1.65. Her ERA places her third in the league. Kyler has recorded 50 strikeouts in 89 innings of work this season, and has allowed opponents to hit just .191 against her.
As a team, the Racers are second in the six-team league in ERA (2.23). Akron, 23-25 overall, currently sits in fourth place, five games behind the first-place Firestix (26-18). The Racers are just a game and a half out of second place in the league.
Kyler, a native of Marshallville, Ohio, played collegiately at Cleveland State. She spent the last two years with the Carolina Diamonds.
