Falcons Take Down Ohio State For First Time Since 2011 Behind 9-3 Victory
April 07, 2026 | Baseball
Bowling Green Now 4-0 In April, Best April Start Since 2006
On the mound, Luke Krouse pitched four strong innings in the start before handing the ball off the bullpen. From there, Ty Roder and Titus Lotz combined to not allow a hit the rest of the game while totaling nine strikeouts over the final five innings. At the plate, it was Sam Seidel leading the way with a three-hit, four-run day, including a solo shot in the ninth to seal the deal. Not only is the win the first for the Falcons over OSU since 2011, but it's the first over a Power Conference opponent since 2023.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first at-bat of the game, Carter Mottice drilled a 2-0 pitch into deep right center, sliding into third for a leadoff triple. Sam Seidel immediately brought Mottice home, pulling a single through the right side of the infield in the next at-bat for a quick 1-0 BGSU lead.
- A walk to Andrew DiLodovico was followed by Lance Vickers bunting and reaching on an error to load the bases. Anthony Mitta was able to draw a walk to push home Seidel, keeping the bases loaded in the process. The rally continued with Vinny Salvione poking a single through the left side of the infield to score both DiLodovico and Vickers to push the score to 4-0 before the first out of the game was recorded.
- Ohio State managed to record an out, but the Falcons kept the runs coming. A single from Alex Laird again loaded the bases. A pickoff attempt to third rolled deep into foul territory as an error, allowing both Mitta and Salvione to score for a 6-0 lead after the top of the first.
- To begin the second inning, Seidel reached on an error, taking second in the process. DiLodovico made the OSU mistake count with a single through the right side, scoring Seidel for a 7-0 lead.
- Ohio State got on the board with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the third, cutting the score to 7-1.
- The Falcons answered in the top of the fourth. Seidel roped a double to right center before stealing third to set up a sacrifice fly off the bat of DiLodovico, scoring Seidel for the third time in the game for an 8-1 score.
- The Buckeyes added a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth for an 8-3 score.
- After scoreless frames in the fifth through eighth innings, Sam Seidel put a tally on the board with a solo home run to right field, making it a 9-3 tally.
