Bowling Green State University freshman Shelley Binzel (Dublin, OH/Coffman) tied the school record for a 36-hole tournament with a 152 this past weekend as the Falcons women's golf team began its 1999-2000 campaign with a third-place finish in its own Falcon Invitational.
Binzel, who tied for second individually with rounds of 77 and 75, equalled the BGSU mark of 152 set by Laura Broadbent at the 1987 BGSU Invitational. Broadbent earned medalist honors with rounds of 75 and 77.
Kris McKelvey owns the BGSU school record for best consecutive 36-hole score at 146 after recording rounds of 73-73-79 in the 1980 Longwood Invitational.
After taking the upcoming weekend off, BG will participate in the Penn State Fall Invitational on Oct. 1-3 in University Park, Pennsylvania.
