BGSU Combines For Six Home Runs Led By Two From Both DiLodovico And Takats

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team found their stride against Canisius Wednesday (April 15), picking up a 9-3 win. The Falcons were paced at the plate by a combined six team home runs. Andrew DiLodovico and TJ Takats both sent two balls over the fence while Carter Mottice and Lance Vickers each added one with all of BGSU's runs coming around on home runs. As for the bump, Luke Krouse got the start and tossed five innings for his first win of the season. Kade Arn followed with three shutout innings, registering a career-high seven strikeouts. The win for Bowling Green comes at the start of a five-game road swing that will continue on Friday (April 17) at UMass.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lance Vickers got the game started by being hit-by-pitch on a full count before stealing second. Carter Mottice followed with the first hit of the day, a two-run shot to center for a quick BGSU lead. Andrew DiLodovico kept it going with a long ball of his own for back-to-back home runs and a 3-0 Bowling Green lead before the first out was recorded.
Canisius utilized a two-run home run in the bottom of the third to narrow the BGSU lead to 3-2.
In the fifth inning, DiLodovico sent another home run out of the park for his second solo shot of the day. Later in the inning with two outs, Pauly Mancino knocked a single to set up a two-run home run by TJ Takats for a 6-2 BGSU advantage.
Canisius added a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Lance Vickers immediately matched the tally in the top of the sixth with a solo home run to left field for a 7-3 lead.
In the seventh, Pauly Mancino battled back from an 0-2 count to draw a walk before stealing second. Which base Mancino occupied mattered little though as Takats belted his second home run of the game for a 9-3 score.

FALCON STAT FACTS

Andrew DiLodovico stayed hot at the plate with his third and fourth home runs over the last four days, extending his on-base streak to a team-high 18 games.
TJ Takats joined the home run parade with two of his own with one in the fifth and one in the seventh, the first multi-home run game of his career.
DiLodovico and Takats are the first Falcons with multiple home runs in the same game since Sam Seidel had two against Dayton on March 5, 2025. It also marks the first time BGSU had multiple players with multiple home runs in the same game since April 14, 2024 when Leighton Banjoff and Garrett Wright both hit two against Central Michigan in an 18-17 win in 11 innings.
As a team, Bowling Green finished with six home runs, the most since knocking six against Central Michigan in that April 14, 2024 game mentioned above.
Carter Mottice and Lance Vickers both hit the first home runs of their BGSU careers with Mottice's coming in the top of the first and Vickers' being in the top of the sixth.
Vickers added a pair of stolen bases for the Falcons, his first multi-steal game of the season and the first for BGSU since Alex Laird's seven-steal game against Akron on April 3.
On the mound, Kade Arn tallied a career-high seven strikeouts, becoming the seventh different BGSU pitcher this season with five or more strikeouts in a game. As a team, BGSU has combined for 15 individual outings with five or more Ks.
Pitching a season-long five frames for the Falcons, Luke Krouse registered his first win on the mound of the season, now 1-0. The win marks the fourth of Krouse's BGSU career.
Pauly Mancino registered a hit and two runs scored for the Falcons, giving him a three-game hitting streak. Over the three games, Mancino has scored five times as well as five RBI on five hits.
Anthony Mitta's hitting streak came to a close at eight games, but he did draw a walk to extend his on-base streak to nine straight contests, the second-longest active streak on the team.
