BGSU Baseball Ink Four To Letters Of Intent

Bowling Green State University Head Baseball Coach Danny Schmitz announced today the signing of four student-athletes to national letters of intent.
Schmitz said Deryck Griffith, a 6-1, 180-pound pitcher from Mississauga, Ontario, Aaron Nease, a 6-1, 190-pound pitcher from Bellefontaine, Ohio, Joe Loudenslager, a 6-1, 180-pound outfielder from Hilliard, Ohio, and Justin Haire, a 5-11, 170-pound catcher from Hamilton, Ohio will join BG's three fall signees -- Brett Baumgartner (RHP - Sylvania, Ohio), Kelly Hunt (INF/C - Toledo, Ohio) and Corey Loomis (INF - Pemberville, Ohio) -- in the Falcons class of 2003.
Griffith attended John Fraser Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario, and plays summer league for the Ontario Blue Jays, the same team BG freshman Len Elias competed for prior to enrolling at BGSU. The right-handed pitcher was born on June 25, 1981.
Nease competed in both baseball and football and Benjamin Logan High School in Bellefontaine. The left- handed pitcher was born on November 14, 1980.
Loudenslager played baseball at Hilliard Darby High School for former Falcon Chris Fugitt and is the nephew of BGSU Athletic Compliance Coordinator Sid Sink.
Haire played baseball and football at Badin, the same school that produced current Falcon backstop Matt Marcum.

The Bowling Green State University baseball team finished the 1999 campaign with a 36-24 overall mark which included a second consecutive Mid-American Conference East Division title with a 22-10 conference record. BG also won a second straight MAC Tournament title, and qualified for the NCAA tournament for a second year in a row. BG's four member 1999 senior class consisted of pitchers Jason Kelley and Chris Vaught, first baseman Bob Niemet and outfielder Matt Mlynarek.
