UP NEXT: The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team has concluded the fall portion of the 1999-2000 schedule. The Falcons of coach Penny Dean are idle from competition until Jan. 23, 2000, when BGSU will host Butler. That match is scheduled to be played at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
LAST WEEK: Three members of the Falcon squad competed at the ITA Midwest Regional (Nov. 3-8) in Columbus, Ohio. Senior Deidee Bissinger and juniors Abby Bratton and Erika Wasilewski competed in singles, and the Bratton/Wasilewski team competed in doubles action.
Bissinger and Bratton competed in the qualifying draw in singles play. Bratton defeated UIC's Alyson Stalzer before losing to Ohio State's Sadhaf Pervez. Pervez was the eighth seed in the qualifying draw. Bissinger lost to Michigan's Jen Duprez before beating Marquette's Anna Pavolic in consolation-round action.
Wasilewski competed in the main draw of the tourney. She lost to Indiana's Jessica Levin before rebounding to win a pair of consolation matches. Wasilewski bested Chicago State's Joanna Phang and Western Illinois' Erika Offerdahl before losing a three-set match to Indiana State's Judy LiWampo.
The Bratton/Wasilewski team competed in the main draw, earning a first-round bye before topping the Bednar/Waggoner team from IUPUI. BG's duo then narrowly lost to the sixth-seeded Chinwah/Thompson team from Western Michigan, falling in a third-set tiebreaker.
The complete results of last weekend's action can be found in the "results" section of the BGSU women's tennis web site.
