Bowling Green, Ohio -
The Bowling Green State University hockey team suffered a 6-1 setback to the fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines Friday night at the BGSU Ice Arena.
Michigan scored twice in each period to improve to 3-0-2 overall and 1-0-0 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. BG's lone goal was scored on a power play in the second period by freshman D'Arcy McConvey (Richmond Hill, Ontario/Wexford Raiders). The Falcons are now 0-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the CCHA. The teams complete the weekend series on Sunday (due to the Saturday night football game under the lights against Eastern Michigan) with face-off slated for 7:05 p.m.
Wolverine sophomore Mark Mink scored a power-play goal in the first period and added a five-on-five goal in the middle stanza as Michigan opened a 4-0 lead. McConvey's goal was assisted by senior Ryan Murphy (Aurora, Ontario/Thornhill Islanders) with 4:24 left in the second period.
Falcon netminder Tyler Masters (Calgary, Alberta/Kindersley Klippers) made 41 saves, while Michigan goalie Josh Blackburn was credited with 26 saves. BG converted one of 10 power play chances, while the Wolverines scored on two of their nine man-advantage opportunities.
