Men's Soccer Falls In Overtime At Kentucky, 2-1

The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped Friday evening by the Kentucky Wildcats, falling 2-1 in overtime. BG is now 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference, while UK improves to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in the MAC.
Bowling Green senior Tommy Thomas (Elida, Ohio) scored from eight yards out at the 34:52 mark off an assist from junior Benjamin Vaccaro (Kent, Ohio/Roosevelt). The Wildcats tied the score at the 44:37 mark on a penalty kick by Marc Theriault.
After BG's Matt Lyons (Maineville, Ohio/Cincinnati Moeller) missed on a penalty kick in the final minute of regulation, Kentucky's Tyler Cook scored the match-winner 4:49 into the extra session off assists from Chris Soler and Kevin Strobo.
Falcon freshman goalkeeper David DeGraff (Naperville, Ill./Central) made his lone save in the first half, while UK goalkeeper Brian O'Leary had four saves (two in the first half, one in the second half, and one in overtime).
Bowling Green will begin its regular-season ending three-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m. against Buffalo. The Falcons have three home matches in five days, before the MAC tournament.
