Bowling Green State University senior men's soccer player Matt Lyons (Maineville, Ohio/Cincinnati Moeller) has been selected Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.
Lyons had a hand in all three BG goals in last Friday's 3-0 win over Buffalo with a goal and two assists. He then scored the first goal of the match in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Akron giving the Falcons a share of the league title and the No. 1 seed for the MAC tournament.
After receiving a quarterfinal round bye, Bowling Green will play the 2:30 p.m. semifinal match on Sunday. The three Friday quarterfinal matches have Kentucky vs. Northern Illinois (11:15 a.m.), Marshall vs. Western Michigan (1:30 p.m.) and Akron vs. Buffalo (7:30 p.m.). BG will play the lowest remaining seed in Sunday's first semifinal match. The second semifinal match (4:30 p.m.) will have the second-highest remaining seed facing the second-lowest remaining seed.
