Bonds Breaks Long Jump Program Record in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bowling Green opened the Clark Wood/Jim Freeman Invitational in historic fashion, setting a program record in the long jump and a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the field, Kiera Bonds made history. The junior shattered the school record in the long jump by 7 centimeters, placing fifth overall. Her 6.19-meter leap surpassed her previous personal best of 6.10 meters set last week and the previous program record of 6.12 meters held by Huina Han and Morgan Patterson.
Bonds' mark, at the time of publication, ranks first in the MAC and 50th in Division I. Patterson placed at 5.57 meters in the event.
The day also included competition in the heptathlon, where Jenna Lucas set a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.20 seconds. She also ran a 26.52 in the 200 meters and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 12.66 meters.
Action continues Friday with field events at 10:15 a.m. and track events at 3:50 p.m.
