Wilmington, NC - Junior Ed Williams scored 28 points and had nine rebounds as defending CAA Tournament Champion UNC Wilmington defeated defending MAC regular season champion, Bowling Green, 91-76, in Wilmington, NC. UNCW evens it record to 2-2, while BGSU falls to 1-1. The Falcons return home to face Duquesne, Saturday, December 2 at 3:30 p.m.
Junior Len Matela helped BGSU rally from a seven-point second-half deficit with a conventional three-point play giving the Falcons its final lead of the game at 62-61 with 9:10 remaining. From that point, UNCW went on a nine-point run, keyed by a steal and dunk by Williams to give the Seahawks a 70-62 lead with 6:56 remaining.
The Falcons were led by junior Keith McLeod who finished with 24 points and six assists. Matela finished with his 12th career double/double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
UNCW led 40-35 at halftime and committed just nine turnovers. BGSU shot 50 percent from three-point range (6/12) and had 20 turnovers. UNCW won the battle of the boards, 40-36.
