Men's Basketball Wins 18th Straight At Home, 92-77

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior Len Matela had 25 points and 17 rebounds as the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team posted a 92-77 victory over Duquesne University Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2). The non-conference game was held at BGSU's Anderson Arena.
The win improved the Falcons to 2-1 on the season, and was the 18th consecutive victory for the Brown and Orange at Anderson. That homecourt win streak is the ninth longest in the nation.
Matalea's 25 points led all players, and his rebound total set a career high. He made nine of his 14 shots from the field, and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Four other players joined Matela in double digits, including redshirt freshman Kevin Netter. Netter, who played 30 minutes off the bench, had a season-best 17 points. Senior Trent Jackson added 15, while junior Keith McLeod had 11 points. Jackson was 7-of-9 from the field.
Junior Brandon Pardon had a double-double, with 10 points and a game-best 12 assists. Through three games this season, Pardon is averaging a double-double, with totals of 36 points (12.0 avg.) and 32 assists (10.7 avg.).
The Falcons shot 53.1 percent from the floor, including 62.5% (20-of-32) in the second half.
Duquesne (3-4) was led by Wayne Smith's 22 points, while both Courtney Wallace and Kevin Forney had 13 points on the day.
BGSU now heads to Normal, Ill., for a Wednesday (Dec. 6) battle with Illinois State. The Falcons return home next Saturday (Dec. 9) to host Urbana in a 1:00 p.m. start.
