Volleyball Sweeps Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Senior JoAnna Papageorgiou and junior Caty Rommeck each had 13 kills, and Kristin Gamby added 11 as the Bowling Green State University volleyball team swept host Marshall University Saturday (Nov. 4). The Falcons captured the Mid-American Conference match (15-10, 15-9, 15-6) at the Henderson Center
With the victory, combined with Akron's loss to Kent State, BGSU moves into sole possession of second place in the MAC's East Divison. The Falcons improve to 16-8 overall and 9-6 in the MAC, a game-and-a-half behind Ohio (11-5 MAC). Marshall is now 3-24 and 1-13, respectively.
Freshman Susie Norris had 10 kills and 17 digs for the Brown and Orange, while junior setter Natalie Becker had 50 assists.
As a team, BGSU hit .239 while holding Marshall to a hitting percentage of .099. The Falcons won for the seventh time in the last eight matches after starting MAC play with a 2-5 record.
Additionally, BG improves to 6-1 against MU in the all-time series between the teams.
For the Thundering Herd, Tracey King had 12 kills off the bench, while Kristin Bailey had 15 digs. MU's Nicole Michal had a match-best seven total blocks.
The Falcon will conclude the home portion of the schedule with a Tuesday (Nov. 7) non-conference match against Oakland University. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena.
The Falcons then will close the regular-season slate with four road matches, including contests at Miami and Ohio this weekend.
