Four Bowling Green State University men's soccer players have been named to the NSCAA All-Ohio Division I teams.
Senior midfielder Fred Degand (Highland Park, IL) earned first team honors, while classmates Adam Erhard (North Olmsted, OH), Matt Lyons (Maineville, OH) and Gene Braxton (Cincinnati, OH) were named to the second team.
Degand started all 15 matches he played and finished second on the squad in goals (four) and points (12). He received All-Ohio first team honors following the 1999 campaign.
Erhard, a back, started all 17 matches he played and tied for the team lead in assists with eight. He helped anchor a Falcon defense that only allowed four goals in six conference matches during the regular-season. Erhard was a Second Team All-Ohio selection at the conclusion of the 1999 season.
Lyons, a midfielder, led BG in goals (five) and points (18), while equalling Erhard's team-best total of eight assists.
Braxton, a forward, scored the lone goal in 1-0 wins over Marshall during the regular seaon and Buffalo in the MAC semifinals. His other marker also came against the Bulls.
BG finished the season with an overall mark of 9-8-1, and finished tied for first in the MAC with a 4-2 league record.
Coach Mel Mahler squad loses seven seniors to graduation this spring including five of its top six scorers.
