Men's Tennis Opens MAC Play With Shutout Win

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green men's tennis team won every flight en route to a 7-0 victory over Buffalo Saturday morning (March 25). The match, BGSU's Mid-American Conference opener, was held at Keefe Courts on the BGSU campus.
Coach Jay Harris employed three freshmen, a sophomore, a junior and a senior in his starting singles lineup, and all six players won in straight sets. One of the frosh, Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo, won at the top flight, while his twin brother, Micael Lopez-Acevedo, was victorious at the third flight.
Other triumphant Falcons included sophomore Mike Kossoff (second flight), junior Brandon Gabel (fourth), senior Sonny Huynh (fifth) and freshman Peter Gardonyi (sixth).
In doubles, the winning BGSU teams included Gabel and sophomore Vitek Wild at the top level, the freshman duo of Geoff Hiscox and Micael Lopez-Acevedo at the number-two flight and the Kossoff/ Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo team at the third flight.
BGSU, now 7-4 overall and 1-0 in MAC duals, returns to the court for a Saturday afternoon match vs. Denison.
