Bowling Green junior hurler Craig Menke went the distance for his first career win and complete game in leading the Falcons to a 7-1 triumph over Buffalo in the first game of a doubleheader in BG's home opener on Saturday.
Menke allowed only two hits and one walk, while striking out 10. He retired nine of the first 10 Bulls batters and the final nine Buffalo hitters after surrendering a solo home run to Brandon DiCesare.
BG scored three times in the first inning as Aric Christman led off with a home run, his second career four-bagger. Len Elias followed with a walk, while Alan Gilhousen doubled and Sean Ryan's groundout scored Elias. Gilhousen scored on an error by Buffalo.
Nick Schmidt scored in the second inning when he led off with walk, moved to second on balk, advanced to third on Aric Christman's single, and scored on an error by the Bulls.
Lee Morrison started the third inning by reaching on a dropped fly ball and he scored on an infield single by Matt Marcum.
BG added its final two runs in the sixth inning when Elias drilled a home run to right field, after Christman began the inning with a walk.
BG improved to 5-9-1, while Buffalo fell to 5-10.
