
Baseball Completes Doubleheader Sweep

Bowling Green won the second game 15-11, to complete the doubleheader sweep Saturday at Steller Field.
The Falcons scored six times in the first inning as Aric Christman tripled, Len Elias walked and Alan Gilhousen doubled in both runners. Sean Ryan and Corey Loomis both walked to load the bases, while a Scott Dukate double plated two more runs. Nick Schmidt and Matt Best followed with RBI groundouts.
BG added three more runs the next inning. Aric Christman started the rally with an inside-the-park home run. Len Elias followed with a walk and Alan Gilhousen singled. A Nick Elrod single scored Elias, while Gilhousen scored when an infield fly (out) was dropped in the Buffalo infield.
Tim Newell led off the third inning with a double and scored after back-to-back singles by Aric Christman and Len Elias. An Alan Gilhousen single plated Christman, while Elias scored on a Sean Ryan single.
After the first two batters were retired in the fourth inning, Aric Christman singled, stole second and scored on a Len Elias single. Kelly Hunt and Shaun Rice followed with singles to score Elias.
BG's final run came in the sixth inning when Tim Newell hit a 1-2 pitch that bounced off the top of the fence in right field for his first career home run.
Freshman Brett Baumgartner made his first collegiate start and allowed seven earned runs in four innings. Kevin Stock, Mike Muzi and Ryan Streb each pitched an inning.
Bowling Green has won three of its last four games to improve to 6-9-1. Buffalo is now 5-11. The weekend series concludes with a single game on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
