Baseball Falls To Oakland

The Bowling Green baseball team had its three-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday with an 11-8 loss to Oakland University. BG is now 7-10-1 on the season and will play at Michigan on Wednesday (3 p.m.).
BG led 2-0 after three innings and rallied from a 5-3 deficit with four runs in the fifth inning, but the Golden Grizzlies scored three times each in the seventh and eighth innings for the victory.
The Falcons scored in the second on a led off triple by Lee Morrison and an RBI groundout by Corey Loomis. BG added its second run the next inning when Nick Elrod led off with a double and scored on a Len Elias single.
BG's fourth inning run came when Lee Morrison led off with a walk and came around to score on back-to-back singles by Kenny Burdine and Brad Simon.
Bowling Green scored four in the fifth. Aric Christman doubled and a walk to Alan Gilhousen preceeded Sean Ryan reaching on a strikeout with a passed ball. Also included in that play was two runners scoring. Lee Morrison singled in one run and Kenny Burdine doubled in another.
BG's final run came when Corey Loomis reached on a fielder's choice and scored as Brad Simon, Nick Elrod and Aric Christman all walked in succession.
Tony Fontana started for BG and allowed two earned runs in 3.1 innings, while striking out six. Brad Henry pitched 2.2 innings and allowed three runs (all earned). Mike Muzi hurled 1.1 innings and allowed six runs (five earned), while Chad Curlis pitched the final 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit.
