MIAMI, Fla. - Sophomore Andrea Genter's second collegiate start proved to be a good one.
Genter threw a complete-game one-hitter as the Bowling Green softball team recorded a 2-0 victory over Ohio State Sunday (March 5). The game was BG's sixth and final contest in the Golden Panther Invitational. The tourney, hosted by Florida International, was held in Miami, Fla.
Genter, who appeared in four games, all in relief, last year, struck out seven Buckeye batters in the contest. Her first-ever start came on Friday (March 3) against host FIU.
BG scored both runs in the second inning. After a single by senior Colleen Bates, junior Jenny Domschot sacrificed her to second. Junior Nikki Rouhana had a single, and classmate Lynsey Ebel followed with a base hit to score Bates. Sophomore Holly Frantz followed with a single to plate Rouhana and complete the scoring.
BG had five hits in the contest, and won for the third-straight game. The Falcons will remain in Florida for another week, and will next be in action on Tuesday (March 7). That night, the Brown and Orange will face both Buffalo and North Carolina A&T. Both games will be played at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
