ORLANDO, Fla. - The Bowling Green softball team, for the second time in as many games, had 14 hits at the plate. BG also received a solid pitching effort for the second-straight game, and the result was a 10-1 victory over North Carolina A&T Tuesday night (March 7). The game was played at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Earlier in the evening, BG had downed Buffalo by a 9-1 final.
Against N.C. A&T, freshman McKenna Houle picked up her first collegiate win, as the Brown and Orange outhit the Lady Aggies by a 14-5 margin. At the plate, senior Colleen Bates led the way. Bates had three hits in as many at-bats, with a double and a pair of runs batted in.
A pair of Falcon newcomers, Mandy Aurand and Jessica Jenkins, made their presence felt as well. Aurand, a transfer from Kent, and Jenkins, a walk-on, each doubled in the late innings of the game.
The Falcons won for the fifth consecutive outing. Bowling Green, now 5-3, will head to Tampa for a Wednesday (March 8) neutral-site contest against Boston University. Following that game, the Brown and Orange will return to Orlando for Friday games against Toledo (doubleheader) and Buffalo.
