Baseball Completes Sweep of Toledo

Bowling Green completed its doubleheader sweep of Toledo with a 9-6 victory.
The Falcons scored twice in the first inning after the first two batters were retired. Alan Gilhousen was hit by a pitch and Lee Morrison walked and both runners scored on Len Elias' double to left center.
Matt Best smacked his first home run of the year leading off the second inning. BG added four more in the fourth. With one out, Brad Simon was hit by a pitch and following a strike out, Aric Christman and Kenny Burdine both had infield singles to load the bases. Alan Gilhousen followed with a two-run single to center, and Burdine scored on a Toledo error. Lee Morrison followed with an RBI single to center scoring Gilhousen.
BG scored two more in the sixth inning when Christman and Burdine had back-to-back bunt singles. After a strike out, Christman scored on a fielder's choice with an error, while Burdine scored later in the inning during a run down.
Doug Flere started for BG and allowed three earned runs in 2.1 innings. Deryck Griffith pitched 0.2 inning and allowed one earned run. Mike Muzi allowed two earned runs in 2.1 innings, while Ryan Streb retired all five Rocket batters he faced for his team-leading third save of the year.
BG is now 9-11-1 overall and 2-0 in the MAC, while the Rockets are now 8-11 overall and 0-2 in the MAC. The Falcons will host Eastern Michigan on Sunday, April 2 in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
