Bowling Green defeated visiting Miami, 5-3, in Sunday's first game at Steller Field.
The Falcons scored in the first when inning when Aric Christman had a leadoff double and moved to third following back-to-back walks, and scored on a bases loaded walk to Sean Ryan.
After Miami had tied the score in the third, BG went ahead for good with a run in the fourth inning. Sean Ryan and Matt Best each singled. Following a fielder's choice, Brad Simon's sacrifice fly scored Best. The Falcons scored twice in the fifth as Aric Christman and Kenny Burdine each walked. After a fielder's choice, Lee Morrison had an RBI single and after another fielder's choice, Matt Best had an RBI single.
BG's final run came when Aric Christman had a two-out single and moved to second on Kenny Burdine's single, and scored on Alan Gilhousen's single.
Craig Menke allowed two runs (both earned) on six hits in 5.2 innings with three strike outs. Ryan Streb retired four of the six batters he faced, including three on strikes to record his team-leading fifth save.
