Bowling Green moved into a tie for first place in the MAC East Division with a 6-2 triumph at Kent in Saturday's first game. Both teams have a 12-3 conference mark.
Falcon starter Tony Fontana went the distance for his sixth complete game of the season. He struck out six, allowed only three hits and two runs (one earned).
BG opened the scoring in the first when leadoff hitter Aric Christman had an infield single, was sacrificed to second by Kenny Burdine and scored on a Kent error. BG went ahead 2-1 in the second as Len Elias began the inning with a double. An Aric Christman single scored Elias. The Falcons added another run on a Lee Morrison solo home run in the third.
With the score 3-2 after three innings, Bowling Green scored three times in the fourth to complete the scoring. Brad Simon and Nick Elrod drew one-out walks. Aric Christman greeted relief pitcher Ben Galbreath with a single to load the bases. Kenny Burdine followed with a two-run double with Christman scoring on an Alan Gilhousen fielder's choice.
