FINDLAY, Ohio -
The Bowling Green men's tennis team won every match en route to a 7-0 victory over visiting Xavier Friday (April 7). The match began at BGSU's Keefe Courts, but was moved to Findlay and completed indoors due to rain.
The Falcons, now 11-6 in dual play, got singles wins from four freshmen, a sophomore and a senior. Freshman Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo won at the top flight, while classmates Geoff Hiscox, Micael Lopez-Acevedo and Peter Gardonyi won at flights three, four and six, respectively. Sophomore Vitek Wild lost just one game in two sets in his second-flight win, while senior co-captain Brandon Gabel won his match at the fifth level. All six Falcon singles competitors won in the minimum two sets.
In doubles action, BG's winning teams -- in order -- included Gabel and Wild, Hiscox and sophomore Ed Kuresman, and Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and sophomore Mike Kossoff.
The Falcons will take a 1-0 Mid-American Conference record into a Sunday (April 9) contest at Northern Illinois.
